Below is the WNBA/Washington Board of Directors roster for the 2007-2008 year. The chapter board consists of four elected officers, the immediate past president as an ex officio member, and as many members-at-large as considered necessary to conduct the business of the chapter. Standing committees are established by the board and include membership and programs committees. Any chapter members who want to get more involved in membership, programs or newsletter activities should contact Liddie Smith at liddiewnba at comcast.net.

NC Weil knew she would be a writer at the age of seven. Since then she has devoted her energies to studying language(+s)-not only English but Spanish, Latin, Russian and un peu de Français-and acquiring life experience. She's written several novels but hasn't broken into print up to now (agent, please call), is program co-chair of the Women's National Book Association (her grown sons were surprised to discover she's in the WNBA), and plays a mean game of Scrabble.

The chair will be the WNBA representative to other organizations involved in promoting literacy such as the Library of Congress, The Reading Connection, and Reach Out and Read to name a few. Contact Liddie Smith (liddie at Comcast.net) for more information.

Member-At-Large: Elizabeth Brewer (Also designer for Signature)

Member-At-Large/Bookwoman Chapter Correspondent: Carolinda Hales
With a somewhat checkered academic career and a bit of floundering after graduate school, Carolinda Hales was lucky that someone else figured out that she is a natural-born editor and offered her a job using that ability! An education in languages and literature had not opened up the sciences and medicine to her, but most of her professional editing work has been in those fields. It was upon returning to Washington after many years in Charlottesville, where she had gone for graduate school, that Carolinda was delighted to discover WNBA-the first program she remembers featured the then-editor of The Washington Post's Book World section-and the rest is history. A past WNBA/Washington board member and treasurer, Carolinda returned to the chapter board in the fall of 2005 as the managing editor of Signature.
